The purpose of psychotherapy or counselling is to help clients better manage their mental health and improve their ability to lead happier, healthier and more productive lives (American Psychological Association, 2022).
Counsellors are professionals who primarily inform, advise, guide, educate and coach. This includes, but is not limited to, clinical and mental health counselling for individuals, families and/or groups (OACCPP, 2018).
