Module 6 focused on the treatment and support of immigrants and refugees with mental disorders. The module examined considerations for working with immigrants and refugees, models of treatment and a range of treatment interventions. It also explored how to support immigrants and refugees from the perspective of a health care professional.
With an awareness of how to effectively support clients in collaborative working relationships, health service providers should also consider how to effectively work with different populations, which means reflecting on one's work and examining one's power and privilege in the relationship. This is the subject of the next module.
